About KLNCIT

 
K.L.N. College of Information Technology is the first engineering college on Information Technology in Madurai, started in Augest. 2001 by the munificence of philanthropists and well-wishers in Sourashtra Community which is a linguistic minority in Tamil Nadu. The college, a co-educational one, is sponsored by K.L.N. Sourashtra College of Engineering Council consisting of eminent industrialists and academicians led by the pioneer Amarar Thiru K.L.N. Krishnan. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.), New Delhi and is affiliated to the Anna University, Madurai from the academic year 2010-11. The College offers U.G courses in CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, Civil and P.G. course in MCA, M.Tech (Information Technology).
The College has a well-equipped library system with over 39,000 books consisting of texts and reference books, National and International journals, back volumes, IEL, ASCE, and ACM online Journal, Magazines. The library has computerized OPAC facility with bar-coding systems.

About the Seminar

Libraries are undergoing tremendous changes in the recent years. New technologies and techniques are implemented in LIS Centres to provide quality and timely information services to the users from various sources. With the application of ICT, e-learning, electronic security systems, digital initiatives, management of e-resources professionals has to update their knowledge and skills to meet these new technological challenges facing them.
Digital revolution has introduced many changes in information field. These changes have resulted in the digital libraries. Digital libraries are emerging entities. The information services provided by Digital Libraries demonstrate a potential for uses that extend far beyond being a showcase for technological marvels.

Objectives

To create awareness among the library professionals on the digital library.
To find the emerging technologies in digital libraries and e-learning.
To create a training environment focused on innovative digital/electronic approaches.
To collect, store, organize and access information in digital form via communication channels.
To serve widely dispersed communities throughout the network.
To minimize massive storage and space problem of large libraries.
To reduce cost involved in various library activities

College buses pick up the delegates at 9.00 a.m. from Periyar Bus Stand, Madurai. (Near Hotel Vasantham)

Registration Fee

Library Professional & others: Rs.200/-
Library Science Students: Rs.150/-
(Fee includes course kit, certificate, lunch & tea)

The Registration fee is to be paid through demand draft drawn in favour of “K.L.N. College of Information Technology”, Payable at Madurai. Spot Registration will also be made.
