SALIS AWARDS Nominations are invited for SALIS Awards for the year 2008 1. Dr. Harish Chandra-Sushila Chandra Best Librarian Award (National Level Award) SALIS
has instituted a national level Dr. Harish Chandra-Sushila Chandra
Best Librarian Award, sponsored by Dr. Harish Chandra, Librarian,
Indian Institute of Technology, to encourage the library professionals.
We are happy to invite
applications for Dr. Harish Chandra-Sushila Chandra Best Librarian Award
2007. Interested and eligible professionals can apply for the award in the enclosed application form. The eligibility and the
other details are given in the application form.
About Dr.Harish
Chandra
Dr.Harish Chandra is
currently working as Librarian of IIT, Madras. Prior to this, he has also
worked in IIT, Delhi, Geological Survey of India, Indian Institute of
Foreign Trade. He underwent training in Library Automation and Digital
Library at University of Cambridge, UK and Tilburg University, Netherlands
respectively. His major contributions are in the areas of New Library
Building Planning, ISO-9001 application in the Library, Digital Library
Initiative, Web based library and information services, etc.
Dr.Chandra is a member of
Senate, IIT since 1995, a member of Task Force for Higher Education
Library System, MHRD. He is also a member in the editorial board of
various journals including OCLC Systems and Services. He is also a member
of many professional bodies like SALIS.
Dr.Chandra has over 60
publications to his credit and completed various projects and consultancy
assignments. He has organized several national and international
conferences. He has received several awards, chaired number of technical
sessions and delivered number of invited talks, lectures and keynote
addresses. He has visited more than 12 countries. He has been awarded

AutoLib-Tamilnadu-Best Young Librarian Award About the Awards SALIS has instituted Autolib-Tamilnadu-Best Librarian Award and Autolib-Tamilnadu-Best Young Librarian Award (below 40 years) sponsored by M/s.AutoLib Software Systems for the Library Professionals working in Tamilnadu. The main aim of the award is to identify the professional who contributes more to our profession and recognize him/her every year. AutoLib Software System is a leading Library Automation Solution Provider. On of their objectives is to provide low cost and high quality Library Automation services and recognize and honor Library Professionals who do good service to the profession. AutoLib is a popular Library Automation Management software.
4. A.N.Marappan Memorial National Best Young Librarian Award (National Level award)
Eligibility Criteria for all the Awards
1. Applicant/Nominee should be a citizen of
India and his/her conduct must be good. 2. The applicant should be a working library professional who holds
at least Bachelors degree in library science or its equivalent. 3. Interested professionals should apply in the prescribed application
form only 4. Nomination can be self or by a responsible library professional
5. Give full details for each category and attach support documents
for verification 6. Enclose separate sheets wherever necessary to give details
7. Applications without full details and support documents will be
rejected 8.

or can be obtained by e-mail to salis_info@yahoo.co.in 9. Filled application should reach the office on or before 15.07.2008 10. The decision of the committee constituted by SALIS to select the
candidate for the award is final. 11.
Award Committee has the right to post-pone or cancel the award for
any unavoidable reason.
